Starting a Lab

Starting the lab is really the hardest part.  You need to decide on what hardware you will use and how will you network it (i.e. Will it just be isolated, or do you want access to the Internet).  My lab has the following start-up components:

  • Personal PC (See "My Hardware" page)
  • 1 x NIC going to Meraki security appliance for segregation from my home network.  This allows for my lab environment to access the Internet and also reverse proxy connections back in
  • 1 x NIC going to Meraki security appliance for management access from my home network
